Roger has lived almost all of
his life in Southern Maine, spending his childhood on a
small farm, and later years on the coast in Portland.
He has a deep love of New England and truly appreciates
the natural beauty of all of the seasons. He continues
to be drawn in by the details of nature, and can find
inspiration in anything from a simple flower to a vast
landscape.
Roger began his artistic studies at Plymouth State
College, transferred to the University of Southern
Maine, and has continued to take classes at a number of
different local art schools. He enjoys the classroom
environment and finds the enthusiasm of other artists to
be inspirational.
He enjoys traveling, whether it's in New England or
abroad, and especially loves experiencing the places
that have inspired artists for centuries. Monhegan
Island, a famous retreat for many artists, is one of
Roger's favorite places to visit in Maine. Paris,
London, Rome, Venice - cities that have been depicted in
countless paintings – all have brought motivation and
focus to Roger's work.
He lives in a 200-year-old school house in South
Berwick, Maine with his wife Karyn, and their cats Ruby
and Begonia. Roger's studio has an
amazing view of the Great Works River, which makes him
very happy. He invites you to come see it for yourself,
and check out his work. |
